What I learned about Iron X from Amazon Reviews:

In Uncategorized by Spot Hater

As you know, I was skeptical of spraying anything on my truck’s paint without understanding what it was and how it could hurt my truck. I did a lot of research about orange spots. Once I found Iron X, I went to Amazon and found over a hundred questions answered! JACKPOT!!!!!

What did I learn about Iron X through Amazon Reviews? I learned the name of the active ingredient that removes orange spots from white paint: Ammonium Mercaptoacetate. or more commonly known as Thioglycolate acid. Then, I researched the name of the active ingredient and learned how it is routinely used in industry to remove ferrous deposits.

I saved the responses from the site. These responses formed my decision to cautiously try Iron X. I pasted below the answers to the questions that were very helpful to me. For validity, the paragraph below includes a link to the Amazon review site so that you can read these for yourself. Actually, I’d encourage you to read these yourself.

Driving the car for a few miles will do that for free… but this probably will remove the rust, may have to apply the product a few times though

Question: My rims are coated with cquartz finest, will this product eat through my coating?
Answer: Cquartz is a ceramic based product. Since Iron X only reacts with metal based contaminants, it should not react with or harm your Cquartz treatment.

Question: Does this remove the hard white water stains on black paint?

rene flores · July 6, 2014

Question: Does this remove wax? do you use a wax remover before using this product? can anyone recommend the correct step for cquartz ceramic coating?
Answer: Essentially this should be used to before you put wax on your car. Think about it in the steps wash your car, clay your car, use this product, rewash your car, then do any paint correction (if needed), seal, wax, ceramic coating. I used Carpro Hydro2foam for my ceramic coating and it’s amazing, lasts about 4 months.

Question: Will it remove my wax or my ceramic paint protection?
Answer: It removes contaminants from industrial fall out and rust. Most likely it will remove wax but you have to wash your car beforehand, so that will remove some wax anyway. I am not sure what ceramic paint protection is, sorry.

J. Lee · March 9, 2017
I will remove the wax. I recommend waxing after you have used it. But, it did not affect the clear coat on my vehicle. Certainly worth it…works great.

Amazon Customer · March 9, 2017
Based on my experience with the product I have to say yes to it removing your wax and maybe not to the removal of the ceramic paint protection. Some use it to strip wax and polish before clay bar of the paint. If you use it in a spray bottle pour it back in the original container and trigger the rest out and maybe s… see more

Question: My brakes were grinding, the day before I changed them, they sprayed rusty brake dust all over the side of my black truck. Will this work?
Answer: I’m not 100% sure. I just know that it removed every orange speck on my white car. I think it would be worth a try.

Anna Jepsen · February 4, 2017
Yes, it will break down any iron particles that’s on your truck’s paint. It’s safe on all surfaces of your vehicle. Just don’t let it dry on the surface because it just gives you more stuff to clean after. Hope this helped.

Kristofer R. · February 5, 2017
Oh yes, Brian. This stuff will attack all that metallic dirt on your wheels. This is some good cleaner. Wear glasses because I think it may hurt your eyes if some gets in. But it!

Question: can I apply it before getting into the touchless car wash ?
Answer: Sound good but I would not try it. If the wash broke before or during you would be in trouble. Also the chemical reaction between the Iron X and the car wash soap could be unpredictable. Jon

Question: does this strip wax?
Answer: Yes, if it’s a highly organic oil type it will affect the wax properties. If it’s a synthetic polymer sealant it won’t affect it much. On Cquartz or other inorganic coatings it won’t affect them at all. In fact it is even recommended for use on them.

Question: I have a white ford f-150, would the 500ml be enough for the whole truck? my truck is covered in small black and some orange spots. thx
Answer: it should be enough but you may want to get two to be safe. i used this on a brand new Toyota Camry and I used 3/4 of the bottle on the car.

Ken · January 14, 2017

Question: I am not used to detailing, can I spray rail or rust spots, wash the area off and be on my merry way? Or would a clay bar routine be necessary? Thx
Answer: Make sure the car is already washed before using this product, then spray it on. Wait the 3-5 minutes according to the directions and wash it off. It is rather strong-smelling, so make sure you do this step outside! You will see the purple dripping away from the rail spot areas like magic. The rail spots will be gone without the time and effort of clay bar. We use this product on most of the cars we detail and it really does work! see less

Question: What is the shelf life of this product? Thx.
Answer: Roughly 2 years. Each bottle should have a sticker on the bottom with the date of production and the date of expiration. **note the date format is day/month/year

Question: Does this get rid of difficult hard water spots on car paint and crome?
Answer: Ironx is a chemical decontamination solution for removing embedded particles from the cars paint. Put in laymen terms. Typically there are embedded debris in the cars paint. This is one part of a two part process. If you use Ironx to remove any metal and then you would follow it up with a clay bar or nanskin scrubber. I would suggest you try washing your car with something like Adam’s car shampoo under the cover of shade so the water doesn’t dry and leave water spots. If that is not possible you can get a deionized water filter system. If that is not possible then keep the car wet even after washing. Don’t let it dry. Use a leaf blower to dry the car off and then follow up with a shammy. see less

After reading each of the reviews, I realized that some of the reviews repeat frequently. Here is a summary of some common questions;

Other questions that popped up:
Question: does it come with a sprayer.
Answer: The product description I included does come with a spray nozzel. However, pay attention to other bottles which do not come with a sprayer.

Question: Can I use this on chrome.
Answer: One product reviewer said yes, however, the Iron X label says no.

Some of the information from the reviewers seems to conflict with the label. Specifically, the labels says not to use this on chrome and glass. However, some reviewers did not see a problem with this.

If you have a unique application that is not described on the label, then, I’d encourage you to do your own research or reach out to CarPro directly.
